As a book publisher based in a beautiful corner of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously.
Our paperbacks are printed within the UK on FSC certified paper. All papers in our original paperback editions (general trade and older child paperbacks) are fully traceable and produced in the UK and Sweden using fibre from managed woodlands and de-inked waste.
Our large format children’s picture books are printed in the UK by a FSC certified company on FSC certified paper.
We are reducing our plastic use in all sorts of unexpected ways. We are pioneers in the book trade by producing our paperbacks with an unlaminated artboard cover, except where the book is likely to experience above average wear – for example a children’s book where the wipe clean finish saves waste.
Damaged stock and wholesaler returns are either pulped or recycled locally. Pulping returns the waste paper to the papermaking trade.
The energy for our main publishing base is supplied by a renewable energy supplier.
And to round off our commitment to environmental responsibility, we use carbon offsetting for all our courier deliveries. For smaller packages, Royal Mail is considered to have one of the lowest carbon emissions among postage services. Books are wrapped in biodegradable / recyclable / recycled packaging. Our cardboard packaging is made from recycled material.
