Children’s Books and Young Adult

We love stories for older children aged 8-12 and Young Adult. We take a very personal approach with each of the titles we produce. Books for younger readers may well be the sort of story with the fewest words, but they are also some of the most challenging to write – we know it takes a lot of talent to write as you do!

Visit our shop for examples of recent titles. Each has been designed sensitively and creatively to match the author’s unique voice. Stories for younger children are illustrated – the majority of titles are submitted with illustrations attached, while our in-house illustrator is very busy, but opportunities are available for the right story. If you’d like to be considered for one of these opportunities, please read the guidelines below and then get in touch.

We want your original story to be the impactful and meaningful treasure for cosy bedtimes and family story times you’ve always dreamed it would be.

What are we looking for?

Our children’s authors are committed and passionate about writing for their age group. They may not have been published before, but this in no way reflects upon the quality of their work and their commitment to their audience. We are proud to help authors find their feet as a new children’s author.

Length is important, and we are particularly keen to meet authors who are avid readers of the genre they are writing for. If you are writing for very young children and already have an illustrator working with you, please send a sample of both your text and the illustrations.

Submissions which will require illustration are considered on an individual basis – the theme will usually involve animals or nature.

We will be able to provide maps and details for books for older children. The books we publish for older children and teens tend to feature magic or fairytales. We love stories which are unusual, and particularly those with a strong female voice.

We’re a publisher and we are very selective about the children’s titles we publish. A number of our titles are award-winners. That being said, we are open for submissions. Our approach to publishing is collaborative, and we’re very similar to mainstream publishing in terms of how we design and distribute our titles.
