We’re proud to announce that we are the new sponsors of Cirencester Radio’s arts and what’s on programme Penny’s Picks.
Penny’s Picks is hosted by Penny Carpenter and showcases events and arts across the Cirencester area. We’ve been based in and around the Cirencester area since Crumps Barn Studio was established in 2012, so although we publish nationally, we’ve always been passionate about showcasing local talent.
Penny Carpenter’s arts programme plays a vital role in connecting listeners to events and arts opportunities in the area, whether she’s featuring new books, theatre, music or art exhibitions, or interviewing the people behind them. Our sponsorship is a great way for us to show our support of that.
Crumps Barn Studio specialises in publishing beautiful books written by authors who have an important story to tell, and so a number of our titles feature local voices. We’re delighted to be taking our role further and playing our part in supporting the ongoing work Penny and her fellow radio presenters at Cirencester Radio are doing for the local arts community.
Penny, who hosts the programme on Cirencester Radio, says, “Penny’s Picks looks at sharing all that’s going on in and around Cirencester. We are so lucky to have so many interesting, fun and amazing events to enjoy and so many people, organisations and charities with the imagination and time to put them on.
“Cirencester Radio is a non-profit community radio station so in order to reach all the people we do, not just here but nationwide and actually worldwide, we rely on advertising and sponsorship. This then supports all the operations and technology to enable our volunteer presenters to put on a wide range of different shows. There truly is something for everyone and the full programme can be found on our website: cirencesterradio.co.uk.”
Celebrating their new sponsorship, Penny adds, “We are delighted that book publisher Crumps Barn Studio has chosen to sponsor Penny’s Picks. It is a fantastic way for a local business to show their support and to connect directly with the Cirencester Community.”

Look out for our new mini segement each month, where we’ll be sharing new titles in our book of the month feature on the show. Some of our latest releases have been Can You Tell Me Where You Are? by Jen Higgs who is a Covid survivor, and Rogues of the Road by Mike White which is a very different sort of book, telling the story of highwaymen who were active in the region 400 years ago.
By sponsoring Penny’s Picks on Cirencester Radio, we feel we’re playing our part in helping to support more creatives in the area, whether they’re authors, artists, actors or more.
