BOOK PUBLISHING IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Crumps Barn Studio is a book publisher in Gloucestershire, based in the heart of the Cotswolds near Cirencester. We publish authors from across the UK, but we’re also truly passionate about the history and talent within the South West region. A number of our authors come from the Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire counties. We’re a national publisher with a strong local reach. You’ll see from our catalogue that our authors cover a range of genres, from fiction and memoir, local and regional history, original poetry and children’s books.

Are you a writer?

We are open for submissions. We are an established, friendly publisher and it’s easy to submit to us – please get in touch.

For a swift response, send us a brief covering email telling us a little bit about yourself and your book, and also attach your manuscript, ideally in Word format or a .pages file.

Why submit to us?

Authors from Gloucestershire (and indeed from the wider UK) come to us because our titles have a visible presence on the high street and we treat each work as the individual it deserves to be. We’re an independent publisher operating on a collaborative basis. This means that the author shares some of the costs of getting their work into print, but in most other ways we operate on a mainstream publishing model, particularly in terms of how we present and distribute our titles. We are selective about the titles we represent. Each of our titles is creatively produced to reflect the author’s unique voice. We are friendly and we take our role very personally, and this could well be the publishing experience you have been hoping for.

What are we looking for?

First and foremost, our authors are committed and enthusiastic about their work. We have a strong presence in Gloucestershire and the South West, although we publish nationally and our authors hail from all corners of the UK and our books are found in high street bookshops across the UK as well. Our submissions process is easy and at the moment we’re particularly keen to hear from Gloucestershire authors of personal memoir and fiction.

We’re also open for submissions for poetry, local and regional history, nature writing and children’s books, particularly for reading age children. For our younger readers, we love stories with a connection to nature or fairy tales and magic.

That being said, we are happy to consider work of all genres and take each title on a case by case basis, so please get in touch by following the simple steps at the bottom of this page.

In short, we are passionate about publishing books that are beautiful inside and out. We love to be part of our authors’ publishing journey as they fulfil their dreams as an author. We hope you will feel empowered by the control and direction you have over your work.

We’re friendly and approachable, so if you think you’re ready to take your next step in your journey into print, send us your submission now by following the simple steps at the bottom of this page.

How to submit your manuscript

Please get in touch by email. We’d love to hear from you. Ideally, your email will include a short description of your book and your plans. You should also include the manuscript as a Word document or .pages file. If you are more comfortable submitting a short sample of your work, this is fine. And you are always welcome to ask any questions you may have.

Once we’ve received your manuscript, we’ll get back to you swiftly with our thoughts. Please be aware that submissions are not accepted in person at our publishing base near Cirencester. Submissions are by email only.

We are selective about the titles we publish, but we’re also very friendly. You can be a new author or an established name. All of our authors have an original story to tell and you could be just the writer we are looking for.
