We welcome submissions for all titles requiring book illustration. Our in-house illustrator Jeremy works in a mixture of hand-drawn and digital media, often inspired by the natural world.
Although most commonly Jeremy’s work is seen in children’s picture books and chapter books for young readers, he is also a book illustrator for poetry and graphic novels. Jeremy produces the majority of our cover designs. Some recent examples of his work are shown below.
Finding a book illustrator can be daunting. One of the benefits of working with our in-house illustrator is that when a book needs illustrations, this forms an integral part of our publishing process. You’ll soon be a published author with a beautiful story to share with young readers.
What happens when you need illustrations for your book?
The process of commissioning illustrations is very simple. When you submit your manuscript, our main editor will consider how it should be illustrated, from simple black and white illustrations for older children and adults, to large format colour illustrations for a picture book or chapter book for young readers.
You may well have your own tastes and vision for how your story could be matched with illustrations, and you are welcome to share your ideas with us. Find out more about our approach to publishing >
Producing book illustrations will take several months before the design and layout work can begin. Ultimately, working with an illustrator can be an exciting way of bringing your story to life, helping you to make it a lasting treasure for readers young and old.
